"... now, will not God bring about justice for His elect who cry to Him day and night, and will He delay long over them? ...”
Luke 18:1 - 8
Hillcrest's Elementary school is offering two new programs designed to help students with their own learning and also with their homework. Please pray these get off to a good start and meet students' needs.
The soul of the sluggard craves and gets nothing,
But the soul of the diligent is made fat.
Please pray that our financial account will be reconciled quickly. A major donation did not reach our Wycliffe account in time to be included in this month's
income. We also ask for wisdom as we re-budget our current resources.
Instead, you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and also do this or that.”
A translator writes, "Our training went well, but was interrupted by a local bully." Unfortunately, this bully is in the place of authority and is threatening to withhold needed supplies from the trainees. Pray that this difficulty will be resolved.
So I answered them and said to them, “The God of heaven will give us success; therefore we, His servants, will arise and build, but you have no portion, right or memorial in Jerusalem.”
Please pray for our foster son, Yemuel. He is already showing difficulty in maintaining his grades this year. Pray that we can help him in his study habits and in understanding the material. He is in grade 4.
O continue Your lovingkindness to those who know You,
And Your righteousness to the upright in heart.
Mike is preparing a presentation to our community on the history of our organization in Papua. Please pray that this will be a time of refreshing as we look back on God's work in sending His word to people who have not had a Bible to read until now. We know of 50 New Testaments and 7 complete Bibles which have been completed.
We will not conceal them from their children,
But tell to the generation to come the praises of the LORD,
And His strength and His wondrous works that He has done.
Later in September, the HIS elementary and middle schools will be taking the MAP tests to help determine student progress. Pray that it will reflect accurately teaching effectiveness.
I, the LORD, search the heart,
I test the mind,
Pray for Maxwell, a translator currently raising support. He is helping six languages here get oral translations of Bible stories from Genesis to Revelation.
Not that I seek the gift itself, but I seek for the profit which increases to your account.
Last spring we asked you to pray for a graduating student, Serena. At present she is working as a teacher's aide at Hillcrest. This gives her work experience as well as a salary as she contemplates further her life's direction.
Our soul waits for the LORD;
He is our help and our shield.
One of the translators here has married a national. They need to return to the US to raise support and gather prayer partners. They have begun to work through the process of receiving a US visa. Please pray that one is granted and they can come this autumn.
For He spoke, and it was done;
He commanded, and it stood fast.
Early every year, the high schoolers retreat to spend a weekend camping at a local beach. Friendships are cemented and they begin the year looking at the Word together. Pray that they well put down spiritual roots and draw closer to the Lord, and thus, closer together.
until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ.
Mary had a GREAT time at the Ligonier Conference, "Fools For Christ." It is a joy to sit among like-minded believers and study Scripture together. Although she went alone, friendships were made, AND, in God's providence, a former pastor recognized her and they were able to chat together and catch up.
I will give You thanks in the great congregation;
I will praise You among a mighty throng.
Praise the Lord! The trip from the US to here is done and I have arrived safely. To be sure, there were bureaucratic challenges along the way, but those were met and I have landed.
The LORD has done great things for us;
We are glad.
Please pray for the teachers at Hillcrest that they would be bound together in love, as a cohesive unit, and able to teach the whole counsel of God.
make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose.
As our students begin the new school year at Hillcrest, please pray that Christ would undergird all their studies and that He will be seen and understood to be the foundation of life. It is easy to put a veneer of Christianity on our studies, but we want to present Christ as the One who hold all creation together and is the life and breath of our beings.
in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
